picture, obvs, is Frida Kahlo on an NY roof, dragged carelessly off someone's tumblr. Quote is from Stendhal's "Cure's for Love", which Rebecca accidentally left. Made me chuckle. Full quote, if you care, is "The thing is that they [women] are hungry for emotion, anywhere and at any time; think of the pleasures of a Scottish funeral".

In my case, if you substitute the word 'emotion' for the word 'meow meow', you have some inkling of the severity of my predicament this weekend. Yikes.

Thanks to Tom, I read an interview with author Dennis Cooper and have started consuming his books.

I totally love this portrait by James Hamilton, 1989, from Bombsite. The site for Bomb magazine, as far as I can gather. Looks like fun.

Jean-Michel Basquiat show

Ben and I sauntered down the the Musee of Art Modern (which is NOT what it's called, but probably quite close, lol) to see the Basquiat show while we were in Paris. A quick glance round confirmed my suspicions that I like pictures OF Basquiat more than those BY him, but it was fun to see his illustrations in particular.
